Dr. A. Morrie Craig - Veterinary Professor
Dr. A. Morrie Craig is a former university professor who instructed veterinary school students in toxicology and guided a lab on campus. As director of the Endophyte Testing Laboratory, Dr. A. Morrie Craig undertook the testing and analysis of the hay and straw being distributed to a number of northeast Asian countries.
Dr. Craig earned his PhD in biophysics in 1970 and subsequently pursued a post-doctorate degree in molecular biology at Cal Tech. During this time, he made a fortuitous and significant research discovery centered on polycyclic-aromatic hydrocarbon’s intercalation into DNA. The findings were presented in a National Academy of Science article and used by scientific colleagues in demonstrating frameshift mutants.
A. Morrie Craig, PhD, maintains a lifetime honorary membership in the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association. He holds a number of patents in his field, including one on “Detoxification of Certain Environmental Protection Agency Declared Toxicants by Naturally Occurring Anaerobic Organisms.” He is also a hiking and fishing enthusiast, as well as an avid traveler who has visited nearly 60 countries.
